Intranet Upgrade: List

INTRANET UPGRADE

PREPARING

I built the department's new intranet, and learned so much about web design, accessibility, and project management. I met and worked with 30+ managers and directors over a three-month period to prepare for this upgrade. Evaluating the department's needs was a big part of this. I found that employees wanted a one-stop-shop for documents, pictures, news, and policies. So that is what I created!

BUILDING

Once I finished gathering all the necessary files and resources, I started to build out the site. This part was fun for me because I got to be as creative as I wanted. Deciding how I would pose the site navigation was the hardest part. I ended up creating two focus groups to help with this, and to test the site when it was almost ready. These groups provided a lot of constructive feedback. This allowed me to make the site as user-friendly as possible. It also opened my eyes to resources that I hadn't thought about, like Change Management Training!

GO LIVE!

I created targeted emails, MS Teams graphics, and other communications to announce and promote the launch of the site. As if I watched my child take its first steps, that's how launch day felt to me. I was overjoyed with the positive feedback and with the tips that I received.

I continue to update the site with news articles, organize pages with new content, and I created a governance document for the rest of my team and administrators moving forward.
